Carlisle's exclusive SME offers an arena for those who believe individuality comes before originality. Whether you own a restified, Street Rod, Hot-Rod, Over-Restored or all out custom Mopar, SME offers the level of achievement you've been yearning for. Even over-restored (Mopars restored to original but with an eye towards craftsmanship and longevity) and nostalgia cars are at SME! From pro-street to pro-stock, mild to wild, SME presents the recognition your hard work deserves.

Based on a 100-point formula, cars are not in competition with each other. Rather each is judged on its own merits against a set standard. The system breaks the judging down into five specific areas including; ENGINE BAY, BODY, INTERIOR, UNDERCARRIAGE and an OPERATIONS TEST. Quality, executio and attention to detail is what works in SME!

The founder and Head Judge of SME, Dave Ferro (of Totally Auto Inc. Feasterville, Pa.) designed the concept 9- years ago, after his personal hot-rod had won everything it was entered in. He'd won Carlisle's fun-field and wanted to further his '67 GTX convertibles achievements. A prestigious competition offering the distinction of champion stature could not be found at any other Mopar only events. Now each year, many magnificent Mopars strive for the coveted 90-100-point SME status.

Entries are submitted in advance and should include photographs and a brief description. Each goes through a selection process (you'll be notified of acceptance) so; just being chosen means you have a Mopar of quality. Score below a 70 and receive a certificate of achievement, 70-79; a level three award, 80-89 a level two and the esteemed (top level) 90-100 puts you in a caliber of just a handful of Mopars in the country. For those interested in improving their rides, judging sheets are mailed to participants and include notes from the judges who inspect the car. It's fun and makes you want to come back and score higher stated one participant.

SME offers even more! The highest scoring SME entry earns a full color feature in a major Mopar magazine and for '01, we will also feature the highest scoring in the CARLISLE ALL CHRYSLER NATIONALS Official Directory. Additionally, there's special SME dash plaques, goodie bags, hats, jackets and trophies.

So you don't won't go home with just one persons opinion, our competent judging team reviews each vehicle and the average of those scores becomes your final tally. The end result, regardless of level of achievement, is a proficient evaluation and a prestigious ride through Carlisle's award ceremony in front of thousands of cheering fans.
