A real "CRUISE SHIP",
THE LAST OF THE CONVERTIBLE 300'S

Musclecar power, refined in a spacious and comfortable package, the big 1970 Chrysler 300, Convertible
The 300, what can I say about this one but "look at the pics, and think, CROSS COUNTRY TRIP"! Actually, the car does (as every Mopar does)
come with a neat story. I was at the gun club one night I guess over 6-years ago now and was approached by a nice older couple. The conversation quickly went from AK-47's to old cars... go figure.... and before I knew it they were telling me about this old car they had SINCE NEW! We get to talking and they really sparked my interest when they said one word, MOPAR! Until then I figured them for an old Caddy, maybe a Buick? We set up a time I could see the car, described as "not running for years". That weekend, I headed over to get this; Gunner Drive, to see the car. Once there the lady opened the garage my jaw dropped. What was there is basically what you see here, a very complete, 440 powered, near survivor condition, 300; a drop top non-the-less! It needed a fuel pump and a tune but that's about it! So I ask the fateful question, you know it; how much? She says, "Well, we'd like to get what we paid for it"! As she says that she unfolds the ORIGINAL window sticker and sales sheet, and there it was; $5729.20. The next day, my tow truck driver was there to pick it up!

So to make a long story short, (as if that's possible now), we had a fun drop top summer cruiser. During the next season, Totally Auto went through the car pretty good; suspension, brakes, some polish, and minor detailing until finally my friend, John Skidmore, just had to have it! At that same time, I just purchased a 1968 Satellite Convertible, {ALSO GOING ON THE POWER TOUR AGAIN THIS YEAR! and..... Yes, the silver car with black top that also wound up being a 440-6, lol) So, the Skidmore's got the car and I moved into the 68. Along the way, John had us do substantially more to the car including rebuilding the engine and topping it with a 70 correct 6-bbl, but I'll let him take the story from here.................

This vehicle was purchased from the original owner in 2000, by Mopar Specialist at Totally Auto and driven a short time by Totally Auto owner Dave Ferro, while the mechanicals were gone through. We then continued the restoration to further improve on this already fine car. Drop the new power convertible top and let the sun shine in. The 300’s charisma combined with the muscle of the TNT 440 6 pack make this such a pleasurable car to drive. Its original matching numbers, Rebuilt 375 horsepower 440 4 barrel (now a 440- 6 pack!), easily has the power to propel this sizable automobile. Proper engine bay restoration was performed by, Totally Auto and all components are now either new or recently restored. With the exception of belts and hoses, nearly all date codes are original-to-this car. Engine detailing was performed Christmas 2001, on this second owner Chrysler.

The body had a repaint by the original owner on fairly rust-free panels. Exterior, presents itself, very well. In formal silver (greenish) on black. New tires, detailed hubcaps and a lot of elbow grease on all the original trim really made this one pop! One of the only exterior items that needed replacing was the D/S remote mirror which is now NOS. The interior is big, complete and was restored in 2001. Black bucket seats, console shifted rebuilt automatic trans and room for you and several large friends. Stereo has been upgraded to a wireless remote control, 6 disc CD player that is hidden along with speakers placed as to NOT chop up the interior. Best of all; everything works!

Further enhancements come from a wireless, remote entry alarm that incorporates power door locks. A recent dual exhaust system and electronic ignition conversion ensure reliability on those euphoric summer night cruises. Since we've had the car we enjoyed fantastic highway trips to the shore and cruise nights, where she always seems to draw attention. We love the car but lent it back to Dave for the Power tour anyway, lol.

NOTE FROM DAVE FERRO, ROBERT WOLF AND CHARLIE DALLAS: Hey John, THANKS A MILLION for letting us use the "cruise ship"!
