Unless you've had you head in the sand for the past few years, you've probably heard about the MoPowered Tour! If not, here's the lowdown; Four years ago, Mopar Collector’s Guide Magazine and Totally Auto got together and started what we dubbed the “MoPower Tour,” a tour within the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour for our Mopar brethren. Over the years, we’ve purposely kept the Mopower Tour low key, partly to fly under the radar of the powers that be, but mostly so we wouldn’t be tied down with too much structure on our trip.
For 2007 we took that a step further and had quite the following, riding along. The best representation of that was in Evansville, In. and the Mopar Performance MoPowered Tour party.
For 2008, Totally Auto and Mopar Collectors Guide Magazine and Mopar Performance have once-again teamed up to run the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour, flying under the "MoPowered Tour" flag. This time a bit louder then normal.
The plan is this; We have purchased a vehicle at the Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals 07, that we intend to build over multiple issues in the magazine. The car is a 1967 Barracuda Fastback that we plan to give the full Pro-touring treatment. Readers can follow along with the articles that follow in both Mopar Collectors Guide and on the web at totallyautoinc.com or mopoweredtour.com. As you know we post daily live events there from each days escapades. The mission is to show the car being built in the magazine, test it on the MoPowered Tour, then display it back at the show we purchased it at in Carlisle. Of course it will also be at many of the nations larger shows too, throughout the season.

Found at Carlisle by Totally Auto owner Dave Ferro's Daughter, CaraMia this little 67 A-body never saw what was coming. Purchase price was 8800.00 What that got us was a REALLY rust free 67 Barracuda 273 automatic with air that blew cold for a day. Actually, mechanically the car was sound and the little bugger drove us all the way home on the tank of gas that was in it when we got it! But we, had other ideas. Plans are well underway for a Pro-tourer with a twist. For one, in a major departure from anything else Totally Auto usually does, this one won't be wearing some over-the-top paint-job. Veterans of the MoPower Tour won't easily forget; most times, the name is Shower Tour and who really needs a ten-thousand dollar paint-job on-the-road, OUT IN THE RAIN or sitting out in the hotel parking lot? For this hot ride, we'll be doing a full body-wrap over decent-as-it-was body and paint. From experience worrying about every clink-clink and clunk, this concession alone should make the car just that much more fun. Instead; the devils in the details.

Details like a 2007 Mopar Performance 6.1L 392 Fuel Injected HEMI, a RMS rack and pinion front , 3-link rear, 4-coil over suspended, tarmac shredding suspension and just a few other tricks.

Tricks like 6-piston brakes, 13" rotors, 4-wheel coil overs, tilt column and Altercation front suspension from RMS, a Mopar Performance tuned ECU and wiring, TTI headers and more! We're sure to feel the updates in the drive-train, suspension and electronics of our ride.

Since being on the road day in and day out means actually being in you car day after day, we've completely rethought what an interior needs to be. This young pup will have among its creature comforts a Classic Auto Air hvac system with rear heat and air, power windows, power locks, DVD, 6-disc changer, Touch-Screen GPS Navigation, Gear Vendor Overdrive, Power Steering/Power Locks, tilt-wheel, remote locking and window controls, a moon-roof, a killer alarm and sound system, rear-view camera, even a small fridge, all in a full-custom WHITE LEATHER cockpit! The dash has been extensively reworked to hold an array of Mopar Performance backlit gauges and all the gizmos. Team Totally Auto really shined on the all-metal dash. Using bits and pieces like fence posts, exhaust pipes, even PVC toilet drains, the gauges now have custom pods protruding from the dash! That's right! No fiberglass job here; Look close, then look again, several A-body dashes were spliced together and reshaped, for a look that's all-new yet pays tribute to the original.

Who put eight great tomato's in an it-ti-bitty can? Totally Auto did!! The 392 Fuel Injected Hemi Crate Engine combines the rich heritage of the original Hemi with all the advanced design and manufacturing technology available today. It's rated FACTORY at 525 hp @ 6400 rpm and 510 ft-lbs @ 5200 rpm. It may look like were getting close but there's a lot more to do before this one tears up the road. On the other hand, IT FITS and THE HOOD SHUTS!

In a effort to keep this thing "Factory" looking, the devils in the details. For instance, by recessing the ECU into the firewall/cowl, she's appearing more like an '07 then a '67. Anybody could go ahead and just chrome everything out but the crew at Totally Auto wants this one to look like it was born this way. Sanitary as she need be? Drive-in movies, road-trips, cruising, concerts, early mornings and late nights are more what this one's about!
