I Remember a few years back where the articles started with something like, "This years Power Tour just got a bit rowdier" now, this year I see in print that, "This will be a family friendly event."
Either way, I'm in with both feet, well, my right foot anyway!
For me, this years tour started better than any other. My then 12-year old daughter CaraMia asked, "Hey Dad, can I go on Power Tour with you next year?"
I mean come on, I melted into a puddle! 8-Days- 7 Cities, a couple thousand Musclecars, a few thousand miles, some of my BEST friends and now, my kid wants to go on the road WITH us!
I was in DAD H E A V E N ! My answer was simple, "pick a car!"
Her first pick was my 67 GTX rag-top but then.......
next thing I know, I'm on the phone with Mopar Collectors Guide Editor, Rob Wolf and I find out I'm Supercharging my SRT-8 Magnum (for a future magazine tech article) and me and my oldest girl are,
"heading down the highway, looking for adventure!"
No sooner do I mention it all to a few friends and, that fast; over eight guys bringing their teenage daughters and two father/son teams! I'll introduce some of them now, the rest didn't make the photo deadline, lol
You may recognize my good friend, John Skidmore (skidscustoms.com) or his "cruise ship" 1970 300, 440-6-bbl convertible as the 2006 Mopar Collectors Guide MoPower Tour Staff car. It went the long haul last year with me at the wheel, but for '07 it's John and his beautiful daughter Taylor at the helm. Enjoy the ride Tay!!
Tim Ryan will be playing hooky from his duties in the shop at Totally Auto and instead be spending some quality time on the road with his dad Mike. These two will be wheeling a wild homebuilt 'Cuda complete with a 5.7 HEMI and 4-wheel disc brakes but more on that wicked ride later.
Mopar Magazine Editor and all around fun dude Rob Wolf and his Step-Daughter Kelsey will be bouncin' from car to car doing photography and reporting for some upcoming articles and features for the magazine.
The theme for the magazine, of this year’s MoPowered Tour is
"old school, new school, it’s all cool! "
Reppin’ new school is Dave Ferro (ME) and 13-year old Cara, rollin’ in a GS Motorsports blown SRT-8 Magnum to show what’s up with the new Mopar scene.
Kevin Carter and ten-year-old daughter Kayla will represent old school
muscle, letting it all hang out in a 440 Source motivated ‘70 Challenger.
MCG will do complete coverage of both motor buildups, along with a road test of sorts, We’ll run both cars on the dyno and the quarter mile along the way All the while reporting drivability and gas mileage for both.
Two-time MoPower Tour compadre', Charlie Dallas will this year
be wringing out his own rod. This matching number 383 4-speed Road Runner. He picked the car up at last years Carlisle ALL-Chrysler Nationals and has since planted a rockin' sound system and a gabble of goodies to make her road worthy! Way to go Charlie! Yet, he's still trying to wrangle a youngster.
2007 marks the third year good sport Bill Uhl will be rockin' and rollin this Totally Auto built 68 440-6bbl convert for the LONG HAUL!
He has high hopes of bringing daughters Sophie and Marisa however
there's a conflict with school and a dance recital but, Bills still working on wife Jenny to cop the kids for a week. GOD BLESS 'ya Jennifer
And there's LOADS more! Drive-in movies, racing, cruising, concerts, early mornings and late nights! Blues guitarist and Mopar lover Kenny Wayne Shepherd will be cruising in some new steel on the Tour this year in his hot new Duster!
